Thank you for such an interesting column I was also in Rome for the Holy Year of 1975

I do plan to be in Rome again for the Jubilee year 2025 , but I have heard that there will be 32 million visitors there ! They are indeed definitely the two best guide books to Rome

So funny-- we've just rented an apartment on Borgo Pio! You're absolutely right about the construction work, although it's mostly on the other side of the wall or around Castel Sant Angelo. And we're from New York, so pretty accustomed to construction mayhem. I'm so happy to have the information about Theresa Potenza. And will definitely pick up the Eyewitness Guide to Rome! Hope all is well in Vetralla.

Borgo Pio, Via Alberico II, Via Cola di Rienzo = my old neighborhood, walked everywhere, inexpensive trattorie, research at the Vatican Library and archives. Now lots of homeless sleeping rough, graffitti, a lot has changed but living in Vetralla is much like Borgo Pio area in the 60s
