These are wonderful-- and what a massive improvement over the ridiculous over-sized SUV's that people are trying to drive around Rome now. Why is it that things people built 70 or 80 years ago were practical (and looked great) but now people insist on things that make absolutely no practical sense? Love your new car too-- very cool!
What a fun article!!! I own a 500 and love to drive it. I always hope for one when I rent in Italy. So easy to drive and park!! Thanks for the links to your nephew’s business and to the cool town in Tuscia. I must visit!!
A wonderful article. Nostalgic joy. Thnx for writing it! Italian autos from the 60's and 70's include unusual and often lovely designs... from the tiny day drivers to the exotics... That would be a fascinating book...(that perhaps 25 people would interested in)! I still have my NDI "Forum" Yearbooks from 1966-1969. So long ago and far away... Best to you...
Yes - I was a boarding student at NDI during school years 1966-67, 67-68, 68-69. Those were grades 7th thru 9th grade for me. Most knew me by my nickname - "Chip". I was never one of your students. I was pals with Federico D and Thad Figura... Brothers Francois and John T were always trying to break my spirit. They did not like my "attitude" :) Correction - our yearbook was not "The Forum" - it was: "The Roman Way". I should scan your yearbook head shots from those years and forward to you. Interesting hair-do stuff! Yes - wonderful times back then - even if it did not feel so at the time. Best.
of course, I have all those yearbooks Ill look you up.. being a boarder was tough. If you could survive Ok , the rest of life is easy.
I am still in touch with so many of the NDI guys.... several live around here and many come "on pilgrimage " as they say to visit . Im looking at the 1968 yearbook now... let me check... I remember Freddy DeLaurentiis, poor boy. It doesnt have the names on captions for . Let me check others.
With every article, you make me feel that I’m there—and “there” is where I long to be!
Thank you , I hope you cAn come for a visit

Love the Ape! Quintessentially Italian.
And they are making them electric now as well, which is nice.
